Bibou Description:
Formerly home to the adventurous Pif, Bibou is the brainchild of chef Pierre Calmels and his wife Charlotte. It's a tiny, cash-only BYOB that manages to strike a fine balance between rustic and sophisticated French fare. The French-born Calmels, whose résumé includes stints at Daniel in New York City and Le Bec-Fin in Philly, offers a $45 four-course (great deal) meal or a choice from the seasonal à la carte menu. Don't miss the tarragon-infused escargots, or try the seared foie gras, paired with a fruity compote of griotte cherries and poached pear. If you've never tried bone marrow, this is the place to jump into the decadent pool, a silky and indulgent dish. Feeling adventurous? Try the braised pig's feet stuffed with foie gras, accompanied by al dente French lentils. For dessert, a comforting range of fruit crumbles and a fig-and-goat-cheese tart are just the ticket.
