The Mantel at Bricktown Description:
Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior of The Mantel. Once you step inside, you'll be embraced by the warm elegance of a friendly staff that's genuinely pleased to have you as a guest. The small dining room, wafting with soft jazz, is intimate, but conversation is easy. The tight quarters, however, require careful maneuvering by the servers, who navigate the room with aplomb while deftly guiding you through the menu. Start your meal with creamy and chewy baked Brie served with fresh grapes and walnuts and then follow it up with the spinach salad festooned with raspberry caramelized onions dressed with a sharp vinegar. Servers frequently boast of "big beef" specials like the Manhattan cut weighing in at 18 ounces. The pasta menu features a cheese and chicken tortellini sauced with Gouda and cream, as well as noodles accompanied by beef tips. Your server may try to steer you toward the duck or jumbo scallops, but we weren't thrilled with those selections: our duck was lightly braised, but marred by raw flesh and the scallops carried a fishy odor and taste. After a heavy meal, look to a light sorbet with fresh fruit to wrap things up.
