Roosters 25th Street Brewing Co Description:
Specialties include Goldn Spike Ale, Junction City Chocolate Stout, or Twobit Amber, pizza, pretzels, pasta or burgers. Open Sundays. Accepts credit cards.
Old Ogden charm and spunk combine in the two-story, historic building of mottled brick walls, waxy hardwood and tile floors. Built in 1890, Roosters was everything from a brothel to an antique store before owners Pete and Kym Buttschardt packed the place with model roosters and crafted their own tasty microbrew. The menu intersperses traditional brewpub fare with Italian and Mexican dishes. Some hit, some miss. Lunch, including sandwiches like the Roosters club and blackened salmon on focaccia steal the show; but dinner dishes like the veal scaloppine fall short because of less-than-tender meat and nondescript sauces. Mashed potatoes look and taste bland as well; but the humongous plate of mouthwatering, beer-battered onion loops more than make up in the side dish department. Dessert lovers will like the blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream, big enough for four and filling enough for a whole meal.
