Steaks, prime Rib, seafood, chicken; dine in covered wagons surrounding an outdoor prairie setting under the stars.
You can almost hear the crickets chirp as you dine in mock-ups of the back ends of Old West wagon train prairie schooners surrounded by stuffed coyotes, fake campfires and glowing lanterns. Themed restaurants don't always mean commissary-grade food, however. The Prairie Schooner not only charms with its ambience, but also stimulates our appetites with such well-executed dishes as bacon-wrapped filets and spicy marinated chicken breasts. We know you're tempted, but avoid the chicken-fried steak, which is often on the tough side. The prime rib, burgers and salmon, however, are tender and flavorful. All dinners come with salad, prairie bread and potatoes---just like it would on a dude ranch. But order that sticky-sweet caramel apple pie and you might regret yielding to temptation. As good as it is, there's probably no room left for that and one more sip of the bottomless glass of homemade lemonade.
