Painters Description:
Painters' Restaurant occupies a large space located outside the village of Bellport and serves good contemporary cuisine. The name comes from its collaboration with artists whose work lines the walls. Everyone is encouraged to create art here as each table is covered in paper and crayons are provided. To start, go with the calamari which comes with a delightfully spicy chipotle sauce, then move on to the blue cheese-encrusted strip steak served with buttery mashed red potatoes and string beans. The presentation isn't always congruent with the restaurant's dedication to aesthetics, but the taste compensates. The dessert menu provides many good options, from the deluxe "Brownie Bomber" to baked apple dumplings. But for the indecisive, try the banana caramel chocolate chimichanga with its crisp tortilla showcasing the soft, warm filling. Though pricey, Painters' provides an all-around quirky experience that can't be found elsewhere in the area, filling a niche as a casual, non-commercial place that serves good food and provides a group-friendly environment.
