Five Front Restaurant Description:
This beautiful restaurant and bar is located directly under the Brooklyn Bridge in Dumbo, Brooklyn. New-American food is served with international flairs. In warm months check out the huge bamboo garden and garden bar. Five Front is also for private and semi-private parties.
Nestled in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge, Five Front serves up artfully classic dishes in an elegant townhouse setting. The interior is calming, with plenty of blond wood and Scandinavian-style lamps, but the place to be is the back garden, jammed with tables and bustling with activity (and noise from traffic on the bridge). The fare is very much indicative of the kind of cooking that's lured Manhattanites across the bridge to similar restaurants in edgier neighborhoods---the emphasis is on fresh and fun foods that don't get caught up in broadcasting exactly where the flavors come from. Start with the crab cakes, which are topped with guacamole and chipotle aïoli, or the mussels, cooked in a curry broth and not much else. Entrées couldn't be simpler: steak frites, cod poached in olive oil, roasted chicken with green beans. Be warned: The portions here dwarf those of restaurants across the East River, even the appetizers. Come hungry.
