Café Mei Mei Description:
Located in Brooklyn's Cobble Hill, this market-driven eatery is steered in the kitchen by a former River Café chef. The menu, which changes with the season, is focused on regional and American fare and is largely successful. The crab bisque, accompanied by fennel crème fraîche, is a great place to start (especially on a chilly night). And while the kitchen leans heavily on seafood (think oven-roasted Atlantic cod, grilled snapper, herb-roasted halibut) and does it very well, we are particularly taken with the crispy but tender pork belly. The confit of duck (paired nicely with a tomato risotto) also makes for hearty fare. The wine list spans the globe---from California to Chile to France---and includes a few nice selections by the glass as well as some rare bottles from small wineries.
