Calico Restaurant & Patisserie Description:
This is a small space with a big attitude---perhaps rightly so. The cute room with seven tables may make some claustrophobic, but it offers seasonally-changing, quality food. Owners Anthony and Leslie Balassone bake a variety of high-end pastries with perfect crusts and dreamy fillings. Quality here costs, but every bite will be worth it, especially for the Calico---a chocolate-macadamia nut cake with layers of caramel mousse topped with hard caramel and chocolate. Good souvenirs include a dramatic and intense chocolate dome, a chocolate cake and chocolate mousse covered in a dome of hard chocolate.
