An Nhau Description:
This tony Vietnamese restaurant in Williamsburg started out life as a takeaway banh mi stand. The banh mi sandwiches are still there, but now the fully blossomed An Nhau serves up an array of Vietnamese dishes, many of which are rare finds in these parts. In warm weather the back garden, complete with canopied tables, is the place to be. The menu has the usual list of spring rolls and pho and bun soups, which are decent enough, but being adventurous here pays off. The pork belly, for example, comes stacked like a skyscraper atop rice, an egg, and coconut lime juice. The meat is tender and, after combining the elements, the dish becomes a deeply satisfying stew.
