Gotham Bar and Grill Description:
Chef Alfred Portale continues to wow diners with his stunning architectural presentations for which he has become deservedly famous. But looks aren't everything, and we find Portale's creative techniques and intense flavors as much a trademark. You'll swoon when the food arrives; everything, from impeccable seasonal pasta---like the sweet corn tortellini with chanterelles---to entrées like Thai spiced duck breast with jasmine rice and grilled eggplant---excites. The wine list, there are over 20,000 bottles, is exceptional and many selections come from smaller American boutique wineries. While Gotham is often overshadowed by newer, up-to-the-minute eateries, this downtown power spot with its soaring ceilings, billowy light shades and casually airy feel remains a favorite of ours.
