With a dozen tables scattered in two cramped rooms and an even tinier open kitchen, this East Village Cuban eatery always seems packed. But that's not the only reason why you'll see hungry diners waiting in front for a table. The food here, which doesn't deviate much from the Cuban canon, is way above average. Start with fried yucca (cassava) fingers with cortadito salsa, and move on to the Guanabacoa salad of baby greens, onions, tomatoes, tropical cheese and grilled shrimp with house vinaigrette. Savory entrées include a grilled skirt steak with chimichurri salsa and shrimp in a Creole sauce.
