Black Iron Burger Shop Description:
This East Village burger-centric eatery threw its patty onto the grill at the right time: during the golden age of the New York hamburger. With about a dozen high-rise tables (and a half-dozen seats at the bar), the diminutive Black Iron fills up fast with people and, unfortunately, with a sizeable dose of smokiness. Not that it deters the burger-loving crowd that comes here for the relatively thin house burger (B.I.B. burger) and its twice-sized version (the Iron Horse burger), which are cooked to a slight pink-ish middle (those who like their burger cooked otherwise are out of luck). The not-so-favorably priced extras, such as fries and onion rings, lean toward the greasy side while portions tend to be miniscule.
