Houndstooth Pub Description:
This high-ceilinged gastropub doesn't always escape the quasi-seedy, bustling street scene in the West 30s. But don't let that scare you away. The loud space is frequented by neighborhood office workers, tourist spillover from Times Square, and commuters waiting to catch their train at Penn Station. Despite the English style-pub theme, the menu leans more heavily toward upscale American bar food than the pubs across the pond. A decent Gorgonzola-topped Black Angus burger, hearty lamb shank stew, and Guinness-laced baby-back ribs are menu standouts. The beer selection, surprisingly, is run of the mill, with the typical British, Irish and American varieties on tap.
