Call it slick and steady, too. The cool, contempo aura of these twin storefronts on Loring Park (arguably the neatest vista in the city, with floor-to-ceiling windows paying homage to the view) draws a similarly stylish cadre of see-and-be-seeners. But, thanks to chef Steve Vranian---a Jeremiah Towers protégé---and pastry chef Jessica Anderson, on view in the open kitchen, its Modern American cuisine is designed for the long haul. Order (or regret it forever) the potato pancakes sided with smoked local whitefish as your starter. Then, indulge in the braised beef cheeks with parsnip purée, roasted beets and mushrooms. The dessert to aim for is Anderson's old-fashioned butterscotch pudding. And thank your lucky stars for an inventive wine list, too.
