Sawatdee Description:
Though there are newer Thai restaurants in the Twin Cities, this Warehouse District stalwart still earns our devotion year after year for its consistent performance. Our favorite location is still this Washington Avenue palace that boasts Thai screens and elephant sculptures. (Sawatdee's other locations may not be as decorative, but they are just as welcoming.) The pad thai is a time-tested recipe that has just the right amount of vinegar bite, but if you're feeling flush with cash, try the "Tail of Two Cities"---a stir-fry of lobster meat and green beans in a spicy red curry. Appetizers are more uneven, but the satay is a safe bet. For a lighter meal, the shrimp salad with fresh lemongrass is as reliable as it is fragrant.
