Gardens of Salonica Description:
We love everything about this small, inviting Greek restaurant, where there are always bicycles out front (college students) and a happy mix of a crowd inside. Start with warm pita bread and an order of tyro (feta cheese mixed with roasted red peppers), or opt for the skordalia (a potent blend of garlic, potato, olive oil and lemon juice). Sandwiches such as the gyros and the souvlaki are well prepared, as are the home-cut Greek fries. Standout entrées include moussaka, layers of eggplant and ground beef topped with béchamel; and the sweet or savory pastry-filled boughatsa. Finish up with a fine cuppa of strong Greek coffee and figs (if in season).
