Broders' Pasta bar Description:
Across the street from the original deli, Broders' Pasta Bar serves pasta and risotto cooked to order, frequently made with homemade egg noodles. They also have antipasti, salads, dessert and an Italian wine list. Atmosphere is cozy.
Menu constantly changes and there are daily specials. Average entree is $13, kids eat free on Mondays.
Important note: While they have a beautiful patio, it is referred to as the "summer wine and appetizer bar": no hot meals are served to patio guests. (Word is the path from kitchen to patio is too difficult).
Across the street from its Italian take-out deli, the Broders' family-owned restaurant features a bar where you can sit and watch the noodle makers in action, then eat the homemade goods they produced. The downside? A no-reservations policy means you'll probably have a good wait before you get in to this neighborhood gem. Is it worth it? If inexpensive and superior Italian fare means anything to you---oh yeah, it's worth it. More than 20 variations range from ravioli and rigatoni to gnocchi and tagliatelle. For starters, we're partial to the appetizer pizzas---little circles topped with whatever's in season, or the simple village salad---fresh greens, cukes, olives and feta, all dressed nicely with lemony olive oil. As for entrées, we recommend the linguine tangled with a fresh clam sauce. All that's left to order is a bottle of wine and, of course, the cannoli for dessert.
