The Black Forest Inn Description:
Minneapolis' schnitzel headquarters, the Black Forest Inn serves up straightforward German cuisine in a setting that doesn't hold back on Old World charm. The beer garden draws young and old during the summer: there is always a wait and the wait is always worthwhile. We're usually too enthralled by the exhaustive beer list to pay much attention to the menu, but then again it's meant to comfort rather than surprise. The Kasseler Rippchen is a favorite, a thick smoked pork chop served with potato salad and sauerkraut and we also make sure to top off our order with a side of red cabbage. The weinerschnitzel is only average but sauerbraten and paprika schnitzel are both a treat. For lunch or a light dinner you also can't go wrong with the Reuben sandwich with its extra salty corned beef. And don't forget to have a slice of apple strudel or Sacher torte for dessert. The world of food may have come a long way since the bratwurst but German desserts are still without peer.
