Beans & Barley Description:
Located on Milwaukee's East Side, this brightly lit restaurant attracts a hip crowd of health-conscious eaters. The menu, which is mostly locally sourced, relies heavily on whole grain and vegetable offerings, including the expected veggie burgers and steamed vegetables as well as more creative Southwestern and Indian-influenced salads and entrées. But there are some meat dishes for those who don't like to go without, including Cajun grilled chicken, tuna salad, baked turkey and chicken quesadillas. The soups are some of the best in the city, all made with homemade stocks. The juices and smoothies are equally fresh and flavorful.
