Brigette's Cafe Description:
A little treasure tucked into an obscure shopping strip, this warmly personal restaurant is run with care and concern by two sisters who named the place for the mother whose cooking inspired them. The restaurant setting is reminiscent of a French café with gold walls, soft light, framed art posters and antiqued wood shutters masquerading as windows along one wall. It offers first-rate Lebanese fare, presented artistically, from the appetizers of hummus and tabbouleh served in little sculptured glass dishes to the lamb specialties like shish kebab, shish kafta and kibbeh. Diners also will meet vegetarian dishes featuring lentils, eggplant and lima beans. The house soup, called rishta (a blend of lentils, spinach and house-made dumplings), is not to be missed. Portions are generous and the from-scratch kitchen even produces the phyllo dough for its pastries.
