This intimate spot offers a menu ranging from light dishes (such as the fresh Caesar salad or focaccia sandwiches) to an array of pastas and classics (like veal Tosca and salmon caprese). The setting includes a cozy bar with walls swathed in red-and-gold damask and a dining room with wine cabinets lining one wall. A must when dining here is the vedova (widow's soup), a sturdy minestrone-type restorative embellished with a poached egg, pesto and ricotta. It makes a wonderful lunch along with crusty Italian bread and a green salad dressed with olive oil, red wine vinegar, garlic and cheese. You'll also find---and should consider---fish specialties each day. If there's still room for dessert, try the tiramisu.
