O'mei Restaurant Description:
There is so little Asian food of any merit in Mexico City that a restaurant that serves even decent Chinese food is notable. At O'mei, you can get creditable renditions of Szechuan kan po shrimp, a beef with ginger and green onion hot pot, or chicken in black bean sauce, but the best bet is the lunch buffet, served seven days a week between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. With wise choices you can have one of the most satisfying Chinese meals in the city. For instance, the buffet includes some topnotch dim sum, including steamed dumplings (shrimp, vegetable, pork with shrimp and pork with peanuts), fried dumplings and shrimp toast. There are also tacos filled with Peking duck, sticky rice, pork balls in oyster sauce and even some non-Chinese choices, such as chicken satay, Thai mushrooms and Vietnamese fried chicken. O'mei is spacious and airy, with tables spaced far apart, well modulated lighting, and peach-colored walls covered with tapestries that appear more Indian than Chinese.
