Tropicana Restaurant Description:
The Tropicana Inn has been an institution in central San Jose del Cabo's historic district for 20-plus years. Its elegant grand dining hall, upstairs bar-dining salon and street-side patio offer guests a range of settings for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The colonial-styled dining hall features trompe l'oeil paintings of angels, saints and Mexican pastoral scenes. The bar-lounge features more paintings, murals, heavy wood beams, and a balcony from which you can enjoy the Latin dancing of the guests and Mexican folkloric shows powered by Mexican, Columbian and Cuban bands several nights a week. Expect good Mexican fare including seafood, steaks and combo platters. Be on the lookout for seasonal specialty dishes such as the national dish, chile en nogada, served during the month-long Independence Day celebrations held in September. Day of the Dead (Mexican Halloween) and Natividad during Christmas are sure bets for more culinary adventure. Tropicana's full bar offers a selection of imported and Mexican libations, including mojitos that would have satisfied Hemingway.
