Founded just as the Thai food craze caught on in the early 1990s, Siamese does a commendable job with Thai curries, especially the red bean curry lavished on fresh shrimp and the Massaman curry with chicken. Pad thai, served in a generous portion, comes with just the right spring to the noodles and crisp vegetables. Vying for top-of-the-list status are the well-seasoned meat-stuffed chicken wings, spicy-sour seafood soup, roasted duck salad and phad kee mao, a wide-noodle dish brightened by Thai basil and red chile peppers. All this is presented in a dining room that fairly glows, as table covers shimmer with gold embroidery and clusters of greenery accent the uncluttered space. Snuggled into a sprawling mall near the Metairie-Kenner border, the restaurant's proximity to New Orleans International Airport makes it convenient for a last-minute pre-flight meal that's actually worthwhile.
