Casa Garcia is one of the oldest and best Tex-Mex restaurants in town. It has endured because it features consistent, flavorful menu offerings, well crafted margaritas, and a wide open dining room that makes room for families, first daters and even tourists who may not think of New Orleans as a Mexican food town. Combination platters are huge, colorful and generously portioned. Traditional favorites, such as enchiladas, burritos and tostadas, are fresh and filling. But beware: The warm bean dip served with chips before your meal is absolutely addictive. Regular customers have learned to ask for oversize bowls of the stuff, and by the time the entrées arrive, it may be a challenge to consume more food. Service is unusually friendly and reliable.
