The décor at this modest Metairie café instantly reveals the Greek focus of the kitchen. Classical Greek colors---blue and white---are reflected in the azure highlights that beam over whitewashed walls, these in turn adorned with inspiring travel posters of the Greek Isles. The dining room thus provides the archetypal setting for such traditional dishes as roasted and skewered meats, daily fish specials and avgolemono, the classic egg-and-lemon soup. Grape leaves stuffed with rice and marinated in lemon juice and olive oil remain admirably firm and an unusually creamy feta cheese crowns salads that are large enough to feed a Greek chorus. Oh, and about the Italian offerings: Acropolis produces a lasagna that could hold its own with any Italian restaurant in town. The wine list has an interesting variety of Greek wines.
