In an ancient manor close to the Tête-d'Or park, Pierre Orsi, «Meilleur Ouvrier de France», has been conjuring up imaginative cuisine fully in tune with the seasons since 1975. Against a sumptuous backdrop, Geneviève Orsi enthusiastically describes specialities like "raviole de foie gras de canard au jus de porto et truffes", "homard acadien en carapace de Pierre Orsi" and "pigeonneau rôti aux gousses d'ail, riz sauvage d'Amérique". Fine selection of mâcon-clessé and French vintages.
This is one of Lyon's very best bets! The restaurant itself--located at the heart of the Brotteaux district--is a showcase, and the service couldn't be more perfect. British comfort, French tradition, Italian elegance--you'll find it all at Pierre Orsi. Chef Pierre Orsi has a razor-sharp instinct for ingredients and cooking times, and his foie gras and house-smoked salmon are truly beyond compare. Be sure to taste the succulent pan-roasted veal sweetbreads done in Sherry, the crunchy vegetable chartreuse (a veritable monument), and the gorgeous, ultraclassic desserts. The ample wine list is rich in Bordeaux and Burgundies from top-notch sources. And believe us, the summer lunch in the rose graden may just be the bargain of the century!
