L&N Wine Bar & Bistro Description:
This handsome restaurant is housed in a former nineteenth-century inn with multiple dining rooms, exposed brick walls and working fireplaces. And it holds Louisville's largest collection (more than 125) of wines offered by the glass. Every server is trained to advise on selections, and it's perfectly possible, with repeat visits, to work your way through every wine style in the world via the nightly flight offerings. Happily, chef Matthew Purzycki's Southern and international menu lives up to the cellar. Try the lamb pops (a trio of grilled lamb chops with Tuscan bean salad) or the fried green tomatoes with buttermilk dressing to start. Recommended entrées are duck picatta, steak frites, shrimp pappardelle and Kentucky bison steak. The staff even rises to the occasion of matching wines to the meatless dishes such as a vegetable Wellington layered with goat cheese and served with a sweet corn sauce.
