Dusty's Description:
A favorite with Silver Lake locals as well as folks from nearby Echo Park, this French-inspired café offers a compelling menu of simple Francophile favorites like Provençal crêpes, croquet monsieur, Lorraine or Florentine omelets and a salad of warm potatoes and smoked salmon. We like the light spinach-and-goat-cheese crêpe, which shares the plate with a generous salad of organic greens. Also tasty is the lamb burger ably partnered with a tzatziki, the Greek yogurt-and-garlic sauce, and tomato chutney. The menu comes by its pedigree naturally. Owner Maria Miller hails from Montréal, and chef Walter Vilquin is already familiar through stints at Pastis, Brasserie des Artistes, Café Stella, Café des Artistes and Mimosa. The waitstaff may wear a hip uniform of brown bottoms and turquoise tops, and the airy interior is decorated with tasteful fabrics, comfy couches and booths, Oriental rugs, lamps inspired by the Baroque era and the 1920s, and a mahogany bar; but somehow Dusty's is not at all self-consciously trendy so much as it is warmly welcoming.
