Joan's on Third Description:
Joan McNamara runs this eponymous, high-end deli with her daughters. Display cases are filled with creamy bricks of four-cheese macaroni and cheese, veggies like Szechuan green beans, roasted carrots and roasted tree oyster mushrooms with walnuts. You'll also find heartier items like salmon cakes with tarragon dill sauce, maple rosemary chicken breast and turkey meatloaf with smoky chili aïoli. For dessert, there's a counter full of baked goods, including peanut butter and jelly bars, strawberry buttermilk muffins and cookies. Some of the city's best cupcakes reside on the counter, including the Cloud, featuring a marshmallow-filled dark chocolate dome. There's also an array of cheeses and shelves stocked with wine, olive oil, pastas and flavored sugars, among other ingredients, for home use. An expansion in September 2007 created extra space, allowing Joan's to offer breakfast and more grab-and-go options.
