L'Amphitryon Description:
Located as it is in Lorient's northern suburbs (in a business district, no less), uninformed passers-by might well think this small, seemingly ordinary auberge was a truck stop. But there's nothing ordinary about what awaits guests inside: from the warm welcome to the cigars at the end of the meal--by way of the petits-fours--and this thanks to chef-owner Jean-Paul Abadie (who hails from the Pyrénées region, but took a Breton wife). His roots explain the foie gras appetizer on the menu, then things take a local turn. Enjoy the mackerel confit, mousseline and mint pea glace, abalone au jus, clams, zabaglione, caviar, lobster al dente with a kaffir lime émulsion, or brill and morel mushroom mousseline. Ever-smiling Véronique Abadie oversees the diligent, attentive service. Superb selection of wines from every region. Special coffee and brandy menu. This restaurant's name is definitely synonymous with gracious hospitality!
