This City venue has long been a favourite for diners who know their cooking, and hedge fund managers who can afford the truly mind-boggling prices (set menus are around the £70-£100 mark). But with ingredients like genuine Kobe beef, lobster, crayfish and foie gras, it all begins to make sense. There are cheaper menus, and if you are not an aficionado of the cuisine, stick with these. Sukiyaki, shabu-shabu and sashimi menus offer a range of tastes, and include clear soup and salad. Don't overlook sunamono, lightly vinegared relishes with seaweed and a choice of scallop, squid, mackerel or jellyfish.
