You will have to book weeks in advance---a sign of the overwhelming popularity of tea in the legendary Palm Court of The Ritz hotel. The oval setting is beautiful, the gold and red chairs a little uncomfortable, but tea at The Ritz is something everyone should do once in a lifetime. You sit amid a setting of gold cherubs, listening to the pianist, sipping tea, enjoying a traditional tea menu and pityingly watching the rest of the world go by in the hotel (poor things, they probably didn't book). Service is impeccable. £37 per person. Champagne tea £48.
