Refettorio Description:
Down by the River and London Bridge, Refettorio is overseen by Giorgio Locatelli. But the emphasis is very different from his stellar Locando Locatelli. Here you'll find the top quality food signalled as you walk by the counter with a fearsome slicing machine and a huge glass-fronted cold cabinet full of deli items. So you can begin with 30 Italian cheeses and salamis and cured meats, either ordered singly or as platters. Italian classics come in the form of risotto with red wine and Castelmagno cheese; a selection of fritti, from prawns to chicken wings with chilli sauce; and mains like osso buco and pan-fried monkfish with cabbage and black truffle. The setting is in two sections, with convivium at one end and a more formal setting at the other end, though the menu serves all. A wide-ranging Italian wine list is a delight; so is the service.
