Leith's at Dartmouth House Description:
This is a somewhat surprising, but delightful, venture---a public restaurant in the headquarters of the English Speaking Union. The Revelstoke Room is a cross between a hotel drawing room and a club. Portraits hang on the deep-red walls, chairs are upholstered in red, carpet muffles the noise and the linen is finely starched. You get a very good lunch indeed---1 course £12, two courses £15 and three courses £18. The menu offers modern dishes like roasted red pepper soup with pesto or fresh, seasonal salads as starters, char-grilled meats and simply cooked fish. To finish, there are puddings of the satisfying-but-not-too-heavy variety, homemade ice creams with biscuits or an imaginative Brie with gooseberry compote. There's the added advantage in summer of a beautiful, outdoor courtyard.
