The Botanist Description:
The Botanist fits seamlessly into its smart Chelsea location. It's a good-size room with a beautiful wall at the back of glass panels depicting flora, fauna, crustaceans and the like in an homage to the local eighteenth-century botanist, Sir Hans Sloane, who gave his name to the area. The setting suits the clientele who come here for a thoroughly satisfying meal. The meal could be breakfast, an eleven o'clock snack, light lunch, afternoon tea or fully fledged dinner; all is on offer. And very good it is too, hitting all the right modish notes from morning blueberry pancakes with maple syrup to the likes of seasonal cauliflower and truffle soup or roast venison with parsnip crisps, pear purée and port and cranberry jus. Theatre-goers pile in for a meal before going to the Royal Court Theatre; the luvvies pop in afterwards. It's elegant dining from Tom and Ed Martin, the brothers famous for their gastropubs including The Gun and The White Swan. Pre-theatre menu daily 5.30pm-7.15pm 2 courses £19, 3 courses £23.
