Tike Description:
Like many of the world's cuisines, that of Turkey is finding an audience in London. And Tike (pronounced TK) delivers in spades. It's a pretty, airy restaurant on two floors in the Richard Rogers-designed Lloyd's Register building. There's a casual bar downstairs while the restaurant on the first floor looks out onto glass and steel buildings and the forecourt of the unexpectedly pretty Fenchurch Street station. The restaurant's specialties include a "meterlik," which is a one metre long chicken or lamb adana kofte kebab delivered on a huge board. Breads are made and baked on the premises; the charcoal grill and stone oven deliver first-rate staples like marinated grilled lamb and chicken. Desserts are a cut above the usual; try the chocolate baklava bites. You can have snacks or a full meal; there is a good wine list with some interesting Turkish wines and the service is charming.
