Amongst the plants, furniture and antique gardening implements you come across this pretty café where Skye Gyngell (consultant food writer for Vogue) cooks and runs the establishment. The setting is idyllic, suitable for the no-nonsense food this spot serves at lunch. It's all fresh, organic and seasonal so dishes run out as ingredients are used up. Try the likes of cod's roe with celery and fennel salad and crème fraîche, and simple grilled lamb with lentils and mint and an anchovy and chilli dressing followed by a blood orange tart with Jersey cream. Afternoon tea is equally impressive. It's a pretty sophisticated rus in urbe setting. Set menu 2 courses £22.50, 3 courses £27.50.
