DiSalvo's Station Description:
Just an hour outside Pittsburgh, DiSalvo's occupies a nationally registered landmark: the restored 1903-built Pennsylvania Railroad station in Latrobe. Enter through a tunnel under tracks with trains running overhead. Arrive in the soaring, cavernous Atrium, formerly the train yard. The main dining room fills the original concourse area; the Tap Room holds forth in what was once the ticketing and luggage precinct. Intriguing nooks, private rooms and antique railroad memorabilia scatter throughout this 16,000-square-foot complex. For gourmet dining, reserve (Friday or Saturday nights only) in Prima Classe, a restored turn-of-the-century dining car situated inside the Atrium. The verbal menu offers seasonal regional Italian specialties, including recipes from the DiSalvo family's native Abruzzo. Try crêpes Gaetano, the featured pasta or zuppa di pesce. Note that prices are higher in "First Class," and gentlemen must wear jackets. After dinner, visit Joey D's Sala di Fumo, a private cigar room, with fine spirits, Cognacs and liqueurs.
