Blue Ginger Cafe Description:
The island's best local grinds---bar none. The old plantation building, with a concrete floor, has 50s-relic charm, and Blue Ginger's food is straightforward, no-frills cooking. The breakfast menu includes a three-egg omelet (with rice and toast) for $5 (adding fillings ups the price), french toast (under $3) and pancakes ($2 to $4.50). Blue Ginger is also a bakery---come for early morning pastries and just-baked breads. Lunch, during the week, is crowded with local residents grabbing a quick bite before they get back to work. You can fill up on local favorites like saimin (just $2.95!), $7.50 bento lunches or, as a concession to the visitors, chef's salad. Dinners are good with such dishes as fresh mahi mahi with capers and onion served with the ever-popular rice and macaroni salad for $12, and chicken adobo. There are two outdoor seating areas.
