Riccardo's Ristorante Description:
The upscale suburbs just south of Portland proper offer some sophisticated alternatives to city fare. Riccardo's is one of those spots that are a bit special, in spite of its hinterlands location. On warm days or evenings when the weather cooperates, the piazza out back with foliage and a fountain is an enchanting place to dine. The thick wine list, bound in rich leather, offers an abundance of Italian offerings. Even better, the entrées here are a cut above the usual cheese-laden Italian fare. Our favorites continue to be the pollo alla cacciatora baked in marinara sauce with olives, rosemary, white wine and fennel, or the grilled veal medallions adorned with Fontina and prosciutto. The menu changes quite often, but the veal offerings are always a good bet---pray your visit coincides with saltimbocca. Be sure to save a smidgen of space for the chocolate desserts.
