Popular restaurant famous for large salad bar. At the north end of Lahaina. Lunch 11-3, Happy Hour 3-6, Dinner 5-9, seven days, except Brunch Sundays 9:30 AM - 3 PM.
This restaurant was formerly called Canoe House and Chart House.
Located at the end of Lahaina's Front Street, you can't miss Canoes. The building is designed like a large ancient Hawaiian canoe house, with high open-beamed ceilings and an airy, spacious feel. Canoe paraphernalia is scattered throughout the second-floor dining room. The cuisine is classic Hawaii Regional, with standards such as crab-crusted fish, pineapple braised beef short ribs, even a nightly sushi bar. Happy hour is popular, and the full bar will not disappoint. Early birds get the best deal with a three-course prix-fixe that includes a first-rate salad bar, your choice of three entrées (prime rib, fresh fish or teriyaki chicken) and passion fruit cheesecake. For starters, we like the baby-back ribs with chef James' orange-mango barbecue sauce, and the crisp crab and cheese wontons with citrus butter sauce. For an entrée, we enjoy the macadamia nut-crusted mahi mahi, which is simple yet flavorful. Other standouts include the trio fresh catch and the porterhouse steak. Sundays draw crowds for the live evening jazz.
