One of windward Oahu's well kept secrets, this casual open-air tropical-style restaurant is located at the foot of the Koolau mountains in a garden setting amidst fish ponds, and an abundance of tropical flowers and foliage. This is the restaurant where island families gather for bridal showers, Mother's Day, weddings and other special occasions. There are many Polynesian-themed restaurants in the world but few are as authentically Hawaiian in the feeling of hospitality and aloha. The bar opens first in the afternoon with a fine selection of cold beers and hot or cold pupu. Fridays bring live Hawaiian entertainment to wile away the warm tropical nights and Sundays bring the brunch crowd. The dinner menu is more mainstream than avant garde and it excels in finding a balance between kamaaina favorites and other dishes. The fresh fish is the best choice. It comes grilled, baked in a macadamia-coconut crust or steamed. Request a table with the best view of the gardens and perhaps there will be a waterfall or two to enjoy.
