The lone fine dining outpost on the North Shore, 21 Degrees North would hold its own in Honolulu. With a beautiful setting and sweeping views of the Pacific, seafood is the natural focus and this is where the restaurant shines. A plentiful supply of fresh Kahuku shrimp and other island-caught fish like opah, ahi, moi and opakapaka are offered in a variety of preparations. We suggest asking your server for recommendations, but don't miss the risotto---the chef is a master of this and it often comes with interesting additions like saffron and whatever fresh produce the local farms have provided. Desserts are elegant and crème brûlée lovers will be charmed by the trio of vanilla, chocolate and pistachio while chocolate lovers will go for the soufflé. Service is cordial and attentive yet never intrusive, allowing couples to enjoy a quiet conversation. The best time to dine is at sunset, when the ocean calms and the skies become a mélange of russet, purple and gold tones.
