Mia Bella Trattoria Description:
Chef-restaurateur Youssef Nafaa has a collection of restaurants including Mi Luna, Saffron and this downtown trattoria. Lunches offer a fine house salad and items such as chicken crêpes. Starters include grilled calamari, the unique strudel di funghi formaggio (a wild mushroom strudel with goat cheese), and an artful capesante con porri, sautéed scallops with leeks in a roasted jalapeño pesto sauce. The menu includes a variety of fish, lamb, veal, beef, chicken and pastas and the wine list is remarkably affordable and filled with sturdy Italian selections. House wines by the glass are a steal. Finish up with a particularly fine crème brûlée or Nafaa's own tiramisu. The room is small and can be crowded at times and service is sometimes spotty.
