Last Concert Cafe Description:
Hidden among the artist studios and loft renovations of the Houston Warehouse District is this vestige from the era of the Speakeasy. Though it hasn't been around since Prohibition, it is reminiscent of those secret hideaways. Owner-artist Dawn Fudge has created a shrine to folk art, with a funky ambience provided by tacky trinkets and vinyl booths, a fun-loving backdrop to the Tex-Mex temptations on the menu. Specialties of the house include Apolinar's beef enchilada dinner, featuring smothered roast beef that also makes for a mean taco. Purists go for Mama's Big (or Little) Dinner of cheese enchiladas made the way God intended, with carne gravy, served with beans, rice, salad, two tacos and chili con queso.
