Kim Son Description:
On the edge of downtown, Kim Son has been drawing fans of authentic Vietnamese cuisine for years thanks to Mama La's family recipes. Lunchtime can be particularly crowded as office workers come here for the reasonably priced dishes. Hungry? Try the Chef Special, a platter of grilled chicken breast smothered in sweet and spicy orange sauce accompanied by Mama La's signature rice and steamed veggies for less than eight bucks. Dinner brings out the big guns, everything from the duck pot, simmered with tofu and black mushrooms to the pricey ca nuong mo hanh, a whole grilled fish. The menu is so extensive it's doubtful even the regulars have sampled it all, but the spring rolls are a must. They'll even do a vegetarian version upon request.
