This is great ice cream. Created by Walter Lappert in 1983, with the original factory on Kauai, the ice cream is super premium, meaning that it contains up to 20 percent butterfat. Lappert's makes use of the native resources---papaya, coffee, passion fruit, coconut, macadamia and lychee---for his flavors, and the result is some of the most sinfully rich, smooth and unforgettable ice cream you're ever likely to savor. The coconut-macadamia-caramel is a riot of giant macadamia, thick rivers of caramel and plentiful tangles of coconut.
