12th Avenue Grill Description:
This simple neighborhood bistro is one of our favorites. While the setting is intimate without being overly formal and the service is everything you would expect, the food is what really keeps us coming back. While the restaurant has some established favorites which cannot be removed from the menu---the smoked Parmesan mac 'n' cheese and the subtly spicy kimchi skirt steak fall into this category---we always look for what is new. Favorites have included a salad of napa cabbage, candied pecans, creamy herb dressing and roasted Asian pear wrapped in apple smoked-bacon and a modern riff on beef Wellington served with Kahuku sweet corn-edamame succotash. Leave room for dessert; the seasonal fruit crisp is reliable but live a little and order the pecan pie "sandwich" of puff pastry, Jack Daniels mascarpone cream and dark chocolate sauce.
