Tony's Description:
This elegantly relaxed stop on the Sunset Strip offers a bit of low-key glamour via a sexy wall of votive candles, Edison lamps and live piano music, framed by a chic patio for sipping martinis and watching the weekend hipster parade. Don't expect lines or attitude, but do look forward to a good, affordable steak and some pleasant Italian specialties. Bring a big appetite if you order the tasty arancini (Sicilian rice croquettes); they're hearty and filling, and the other portions here aren't small either. We like the ubiquitous but well-composed roasted beet and goat cheese salad, and the piquantly bold garlic saffron mussels. All of the steaks, ranging from a seven-ounce New York and rib-eye medallions to the bone-in Delmonico and a T-bone, are under $25, served with buttery lumpy mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The kitchen's signature pasta is a fragrant plate of angel hair with tender shrimp, avocado, fresh grape tomato and a subtle white truffle sauce. Despite the generous portions don't ignore the sides---some are hidden gems, like the savory wild mushroom polenta, though it could practically be an entrée in and of itself.
